NameMaiden: PersonHonorificTypeID: OriginalSource: PHOTOGRAPHY IN AMERICA: THE FORMATIVE YEARS, 1839-1900 (Welling, 1978), p. 271: D. H. Cross of Indianapolis brought samples of his new Indianola dry plate to the Photographers Association of America convention, held in the summer of 1880 in Chicago. His was one of three plates (along with Cramer & Norden's St. Louis plates and John Carbutt's Keystone plates) on exhibit. A committee was formed to investigate and report on the 3 makes: the committee preferred the St. Louis brand. Eastman's plates were placed on the market in December 1880 and by June 1881 their use became widesread. [This is probably Indianaola, Iowa. I've seen no other reference to him in Indiana.] OriginalWorkerType: PersonSexTypeID: PersonColorTypeID: PersonStudioLocationID: 607
