Charles Silverthorn apprenticed to Gilbert Studio in about 1900.  He then met and married Clara Heichert, daughter of photographer Luther V. Heichert, making him competition for his father-in-law.  Since he had made a promise to Gilbert he finished the apprenticeship to satisfy the agreement.  Charles then moved to a farm in Rossville and evidently gave up photography.
