C. L. Ostrander  article summary
-been in one location for nearly 3 decades, started to learn trade in 1876, in 1893 he came to Mishawaka buying a frame building on the site of his present art building. People from all sides advised him that a photographer could not make a living because South Bend was so near. In 1898 he constructed the art building, then considered an unusal public improvement. He took a suite on the 2nd floor above the News-Times office where he holds forth today. Has taken more than 100,000 photographs with every conceivable thing an object. The oldest to ever visit him professionally was 101, the youngest two weeks. Reputed to be one of the oldest photographers in the US from point of service in his profession.A prominent photo supply house recently requested his biography for use in their publication house, saying that to their knowledge he was the oldest in the country. Still open for business 10 hours a day seven days a week. In 29 years he hasn't been absent from his business a total of 30 days.
