The Argos Reflector, 31 Oct. 1889, p. 5 - Ernest Rotzien, of Chicago, whose photograph gallery burned recently at Plymouth, has purchased the Argos gallery from Pontius and is prepared to give satisfaction to anybody desiring a first class photograph from locket to life size. 

The Argos Reflector, 21 Nov. 1889, p. 5 - 30 day offer to every 20th sitter for one dozen Cabinet Photographs at $2.00 per dozen, Prof. Rotzien will give one life-sized free hand stippled crayon portrait. Marshall County Independent, Plymouth, 21 Dec. 1894, p. 16, Rotzien, the photographer, has a well equipped gallery on south Michigan street and makes a specialty of baby pictures in which branch he has been successful.

Marshall County Independent, Plymouth, 17 Mar. 1899, p. 1 - Picture Swindler Captured. Article about man who was canvasing Marshall county falsely representing himself to be working for E. Rotzien and selling a dozen cabinets and enlarged pictre, frame and easel all for $1.50. He collected all or part in advance and that would be the last of him. Rotzien notified the police. The fellow went south through Fulton county and was successfully operating his scheme stating he was the brother of photographer  A. N. Donaldson of Logansport. He was caught at livery barn and charged with obtaining money under false pretenses. Made nearly $100 at the expense of the unsuspecting farmers. He registered at the Murdock as E. R. Martin of Chicago
