OriginalSource: Nov. 19, 1993 Letter from Stephen Fletcher, Indiana Historical Society, to Dorothy Humphrey: " I have a citation from a 1892 publication that states that Ben & Al Larrimer opened a studio in Marion on Boots St. 'just at the rear of the post office . . . three years ago.' The Sanborn Insurance map for 1890 shows a photo gallery at 204 Boots (behind a building labeled "P.O.") occupying a one-story building with a skylight on the 2nd story."

Souvenir of Marion, 1892, p. 31 photo of interior of Larrimer's photograph gallery; Larrimers' The above cut represent the place of business of the Larrimer Bros., who photographed nearly all the pictures seen upon these pages.
The Larrimers are young men, Ben being but 27 and Al but 23 yrs. Old, but they are experts in the picture business and have built up an immense trade at their place on Boots street, just at the rear of the post office. During their 3 yrs. Of business here, they have place themselves at the front of the profession in this part of the state.
Prior to engaging in business here Mr. Ben Larrimer was in business for a time in both Kansas City and Chicago. They do the most difficult kind of photography work, both in doors and out and on account of the high grade of work are always crowded. In addition to being artists in the line of their work, the Larrimers are also artists in a musical sense. Ben, especially, is a fine performer upon the mandolin, and is the leader of the mandolin orchestra, a very popular kind of music at the present, especially in theis section of the country.
