One of our oldest photographers in Springfield was Simon H Wickiser. Mr Wickiser started out in the photography business as early as 1888 at his 1615 Robberson location. He was there till poped up at 1624 Benton Avenue around 1896. For one year in 1889 Harry Morgan had partnered with him, only to go out on his own the following year. By 1900 Simon had moved in the old studio of W.S. Johnson - later G.W. Settler at 310 St Louis Street. By 1912 he moved over to 431 South Street. He would finish his career at 215 W Walnut street which he moved to in 1915. Simon died the February 6th 1916 at the age of 72 after spending 28 years of his life photographing hundreds of Springfieldians.  The business would operate up into the mid 1920's by a family member.
